The last screen you look at before sleep matters. A game that shouts at you with timers, flashing rewards and “only 3 lives left” keeps your brain in fight mode. A calm puzzle does the opposite: it gives your hands something to do while your mind slows down.
We picked ten games that fit a bedtime routine. Our rules were simple: no countdown timers, soft colors, and sessions you can stop at any moment.
Our picks
- Monument Valley – Impossible architecture, gentle music and puzzles that feel more like walking than thinking. Play one chapter, then stop.
- I Love Hue – Sort colored tiles into perfect gradients. There is no rush and no wrong answer that punishes you.
- Threes! – The original sliding number puzzle. Slow, thoughtful and very easy to put down.
- Mini Metro – Draw subway lines for a growing city. Turn on the calm mode and watch the trains glide.
- Prune – Grow a tree toward the light by cutting its branches. Quiet, beautiful and short.
- Hidden Folks – Hand-drawn, black and white search scenes. Great with the sound turned low.
- Gorogoa – A short, hand-painted puzzle story. Perfect for a few calm evenings.
- A Good Snowman Is Hard to Build – Push snowballs around a tiny garden. Cozy, clever and never stressful.
- Blockmoon – Our own block puzzle under a night sky. Dark by design, no timers, and one board per session. (Closed test)
- Moon Arrows – Our upcoming logic puzzle where each level draws a shape. A daily puzzle is just the right size for bedtime. (In development)
Tips for a calmer game night
- Lower the brightness and turn on your phone’s night mode.
- Mute the sound or keep it very low.
- Pick an end point before you start, for example “three levels” or “one board”.
- Put the phone down at least 15 minutes before sleeping.
Sweet dreams, and see you on the next board.
